Happy birthday! A lovely post. It felt like I was on that stroll too.
Great photos and it's fun to see all the graffiti (here in Japan, I miss it). Lovely to see "poésie" among it. Clearly, there's a better class of graffiti in France than in my home country of the UK.
Many thanks for taking us on your walk, and a belated happy birthday. The wisteria round here is beautiful at the moment too. Someone, however, is clearly upset with the (thieving?) realtor!
Lovely spring walk! I enjoyed reminiscing about the various building styles. On buildings, I was intrigued by the "immobilier volé" tag. Seems there's unhappiness because the Mairie has bought it for a car park? Feelings running high...
I do love your photos (and your words, too!). I often think how many pieces on the internet, especially when it comes to non-famous walks, are crafted by those who are not from that place. There is so much beauty in the world, so much of interest and fascination, yet it can so often be taken for granted by people raised in an area.
In the US, is there the same tradition of raising memorials such as the one you picture? I've always wondered that. As you know, here and in the UK every single village has one and, when you count the fallen and reference it to the size of the village, it is really sobering. Especially the list of the first world war dead.
Thanks for sharing this piece! And a very happy birthday to you too (I'm next month! Spring is the best time for a birthday, I feel!).
Thanks for filling in that gap in my knowledge! Small town/village war memorials don't ever seem to make it into the background of movies or TV shows set in the 'States, so I'm glad to know this. One day, I'll certainly visit, however!

Thank you! Grenoble has the whole spectrum of street art—I actually wrote about it if you want to see more! https://annethomas.substack.com/p/blurred-lines-street-art-of-grenoble
Funnily enough I think the poésie bit was actually a bit of creative advertising for the poetry center contained in that building 😆
Never knew I loved seeing pictures from other people’s walks as much as I do! Happy belated birthday!
Thank you Leanna!
So much lush greenery!! And I insist you go back and find out what those gorgeous chocolate flowers smelled like :P
Haha I really should…
Love the photos of the ruins of Couvent des Minimes de la Plaine 🌿
Small but a gem!

My pleasure and thank you! And yes, someone was not happy…

Yes, so was I--it must be something like that!
The mountains and wisteria vines are beautiful! What lovely strolls. I bet you had loads of inspiration after visiting such beautiful places!
yes indeed!

That's such a good point!
Yes, war memorials are pretty common in the US too, more so for WWII and later wars. There's one in the park near my parents' house.
Thank you! Agreed on spring birthdays.

Gorgeous stroll. Thanks for taking us along. Also an interesting but sad glimpse of the war years there. Joyeux anniversaire!
Thank you!
It is sobering, isn’t it
Beautiful photos, what wonderful shades of green… and that wisteria!
The wisteria took the cake!
Thanks for taking us along with you. Lovely
My pleasure!
Happy birthday! Thank you for the lovely photo adventure!
Thank you and my pleasure!
Love the vibrant photos (and the relaxed dog - he’s got the right idea). Happy birthday and thank you!
Thank you! Yes I was delighted by that dog although he was more relaxed before he saw me trying to say hi 😅
Beautiful and perfect. Happy Birthday, from one April Aries to another.
Thank you! Happy birthday month!
Now your birthday gift to yourself is also a gift to us!
So true! Except I couldn’t change the subtitle to reflect that because it would mess up the Emperor’s New Groove quote haha
Wonderful tour🇫🇷
