Still worrying it'll all be over when I get to the Vanoise next month! Infogeol app quite good for underlying rock types though less user friendly than the UK equivalent. Would guess your slippy stuff is shale. (I did some schist shale slate mansplaining but then deleted it as being boring)
Ooh, I would love a rock typing app, I've enjoyed having apps for plants, birds, and insects (hopefully it's helping me learn more than being a crutch!) And go on, you have permission to tell us more about schist shale slate!
Your posts are incredibly nostalgic for me. I’ve visited the Austrian Alps many times when I was young, but haven’t had an opportunity to go back since I was in my early twenties.
That was a glorious guided randonné, with no physical effort on my part! I was especially smitten by the globe flower and the white asphodel; thank you Anne for another delightful post.
How beautiful! Makes me resolved even more to revisit the area and to see the Jardin du Lauteret. I must try to find my photos from 1980 and post them so that you can have a retro glimpse!
This is such a wonderful article with georgious pictures & videos. Thanks for taking me into paradise with you.💚💙🙏 Seeing this I'm reminded of the childhood vacencies my parents spent with us mostly in the Austrian mountains.
This is absolutely amazing! What a stunning place to go for a hike. Thank you for taking us with you!
It really was! Thanks for coming along!

I’m so glad you came along! The white asphodel was really something else, I’ve never seen it like that!
