As ever, a wonderful, transporting description - I was there with you and the birds! Beautiful location and light too. I've seen them just once in Corfu town near the harbour and they were a dazzling sight.

I want some of those birds in our yard, although I imagine that wouldn't be a nesting ground for them. Lovely post.

That photo of the huddle -- I originally thought it was a caterpillar on a twig before my eyes focused properly and I made sense of what I was looking at. Gorgeous!

How funny! That’s exactly what people on Reddit said in the thread where I found this photo 😂

Thank you for transporting me to a place I've never visited, to see birds I've never seen. I loved how you wanted to be asked by the passersby about what you were doing and satisfied that need to share the magic by going back with your work colleague. Sometimes the beauty of nature is too much not to share with others, isn't it?

Am I alone in remarking on how amazing the bike paths look? Is there a map of dedicated bike paths like this in Isere?

It is a very nice path! I should look properly for a map, but here's one site: https://www.isere-tourisme.com/selection/itineraires-veloroutes-et-voies-vertes
