December 2024
Dear friends,
Just a short note for this December album, which I’m sending from a house in Idaho overflowing with sibling joy and dog cuddles…
Before I paused my entries for the holidays, winter settled over Grenoble and its mountains and its sky. I’m noticing (again) this year that the light takes the stage in winter—maybe because there are fewer leaves to distract me from the sky, maybe because its southerly slant pearls the clouds in new ways, maybe because sunset comes while I’m still at work, so I see the day’s whole evolution from my upper floor office window.
There are still plants, of course, especially trees: their autumn leavings and their traceries against that pearly sky. Stars of downy seeds.
Two days in Paris on my way home.

Bonus: Christmastime in Idaho
Enjoy your time stateside! Idaho is not that far from my former home base, WA state.
A delicious pallette of autumn>>>winter colours, shapes, patterns and almost scents, plus a cuddly canine; a charming gift!
